Comprehensive Sunday School Curriculum
The Generations of Grace Sunday School curriculum covers the entire scope of God’s Word and shows His redemptive plan throughout history.
How We Started
More than twenty years ago, the children’s ministry leaders and elders at Grace Community Church had a goal to create a God-centered children’s curriculum. This was born out of a collective desire to see God exalted to His rightful place as the Hero of every Bible story. Sadly, many curricula we encountered were man-focused, story-driven, or lacking the full scope of God’s
Word. So, we decided to write our own.
Pedagogical Approach
Generations of Grace is a three-year Sunday School curriculum for children from age three through the sixth grade. Teachers and parents guide the children progressively to get more in-depth as the children mature, reinforcing and expounding upon the Scriptures more fully as the student develops in age. Our curriculum is designed to be cycled through three times, allowing the child beginning at age three to progress through the entire Bible three times over nine years. The teachers and parents are equipped with the resources needed to provide different approaches to each lesson and daily devotional based on the age of the student and their learning capabilities.
Encouraging Family Devotional Time Daily
The Sunday School lessons are only half of the curriculum. The primary responsibility of teaching children God’s Word is on the parents. Our curriculum guides the whole family through God’s Word together, carefully expounding and diving deeper into the lessons taught each Sunday. This allows parents and teachers to work in tandem to cover the entire Bible in depth.

Overview
Generations of Grace
Teacher Books
Each year contains a scope and sequence spanning 52 weeks (including reviews and Christmas and Easter lessons) to equip the teachers to teach each passage of Scripture clearly and effectively. The teacher is provided with a complete commentary on each lesson to provide personal edification and understanding of how to present the material properly to the children in their Sunday School class. Each year moves chronologically through the Bible and covers every book.
Year 1: Genesis through 1 Samuel
Year 2: 2 Samuel through Malachi
Year 3: Matthew through Revelation
Generations of Grace
Family Devotional
The Family Devotionals are structured to follow the lessons taught in the classroom. Each week the child attends Sunday School and hears God’s Word taught by their teacher, focusing on the narrative theme and central truth of that week. After church, the Family Devotional provides the family with a review of Sunday School. Then Monday through Saturday, expands on that narrative theme to dive deeper into the details of redemptive history. Each week includes infographics on the Bible reading, questions for the parents to engage with their children, timelines of events, maps of locations, and much more. These books were designed to equip and encourage parents to fulfill their duty to train up their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is the Generations of Grace Sunday School curriculum unique?
Our curriculum focuses on teaching the teacher and parents how to teach their children so that it is edifying for everyone involved. We don’t have scripts to read from, as every classroom, home, and child is different. No one else knows how to teach them better than you, so we equip you to do that while focusing on the Word of God. Generations of Grace is also the only curriculum to offer a lesson for every week of the year and family study for every day of the week.
What setting is this curriculum used in?
The Generations of Grace Sunday School curriculum is used in a variety of settings: Sunday schools, Junior church, Vacation Bible Schools, missions trips, nurseries, homeschooling, and special ministries.
What if I can’t do all 52 lessons and our schedule is different?
The scope and sequence is a suggestion to follow and offers natural breaks in the narrative theme we call “sections.” After each section is a review week that allows for
flexibility within the schedule. If you need to skip a week or change where you do your reviews, that is totally fine. Everyone’s schedule is unique, and the curriculum is easily adaptable to your schedule and needs. Still not sure? Contact our customer service team, and they will help you plan your schedule!
How long has the curriculum existed?
The first edition was completed in 2005. After years of use and feedback, the current third edition was finished in 2026.
What Bible version is used?
The third edition is what we call “version-less,” allowing for any Bible to be read along with it. Our quoted Scripture in the commentaries uses the English Standard Version (ESV), but many churches and families use the NASB, LSB, or the NIV. The choice is yours!
Do I have to be in a large church in order to use this curriculum effectively?
No. Our Sunday school curriculum is being used by churches of all sizes as there is no minimum size required. Everything needed for each lesson, aside from normal classroom supplies, is included in each lesson and online as free resources. View additional resources.
How do I access my digital annual licenses?
